Overview

After upgrading to NTA 4.2 the following error is displayed:

License status check failed: no valid license were found for

 

The logs in C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\NTA show the following in the NTA.BusinessLayer.log with debug mode set in the log adjuster application:

ERROR SolarWinds.Netflow.Common.Licensing.Licensing - 
Unable to get license.
System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Common.IModuleLicense SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Common.IFeatureManager.GetModuleLicense(System.String, System.Version, System.String, Int32, System.DateTime, System.String)'.
at SolarWinds.Netflow.Common.Licensing.Licensing.GetModuleLicense(String applicationName, Version productVersion, String productVersionSpecification, Int32 licenseVersion)
at SolarWinds.Netflow.Common.Licensing.Licensing.GetLicense()

Environment

  • NTA version 4.2
  • NPM version 12

 

Cause 

Old Core 2015.1.35100.9209 binaries in the NetFlowTrafficAnalysis folder location Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NetFlowTrafficAnalysis:

 

  • SolarWinds.Orion.Common.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Common.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Discovery.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Jobs2.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Models.dll
  • SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Strings.dll

 

Core assemblies should no longer be there. NTA 4.2 uses Assembly Resolver which means that Core dlls does nott have to be duplicated because they will be found in the Orion folder.

Resolution

  1. Go to the folder Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NetFlowTrafficAnalysis.
  2. Delete the Old Core Binaries.
