Website configuration failed: Unhandled exception

Overview

The following error appears when installing NTA v4.1.1:

Error: Website Configuration Failed: Un-handled exception occurred during instantiating type [SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Discovery.Plugin] from assembly [SolarWinds.Orion.Core.DiscoveryPlugin]* 

Environment

NTA v4.1.1

Cause

This issue is caused by a special configuration on the server and is related to security.

Resolution

Do the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Go to NCM Program Directory.

2. Assign permissions to the following two files:

    Right click on the Properties for each file, then select Unblock.

  • SolarWinds.Cirrus.BusinessLayer.dll
  • SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin.dll

3. Additionally, right click on Properties then choose Security > Add Group Everyone.

4. Rerun Configuration Wizard (as Administrator) - Running Configuration Wizard.
