Unable to connect to the Orion SQL server from the Flow Storage database server

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when the Flow Storage database installation cannot continue because you are unable to connect the Flow Storage database server to the Orion SQL server.

Environment

  • NTA 4.0 through 4.2.3
  • New Windows Server installation for the Flow Storage database

Cause

The issue is caused by the TCP/IP connections disabled on SQL server, and the antivirus or firewall blocking the connection.

Resolution

  1. Enable TCP/IP in the SQL server configuration for the IP address of the Flow Storage database server.
  2. Check if the antivirus or firewall aren't blocking the connection.
