The Netflow Collector is down even though NTA and Flow Storage Database services are up

Overview

This article describes how to resolve issues when the NetFlow Collector is down but NTA and Flow Storage Database (FSDB) services are up.

The NTA Business Layer log contains the following error:

2018-01-09 10:18:36,459 [8] FATAL SolarWinds.Netflow.Processing.AppContext - FastBit Server version '4230' doesn't match with expected server version '4210' for this client. Please upgrade FastBit server to required version.
2018-01-09 10:18:36,459 [8] INFO  SolarWinds.Netflow.FastBit.Contract.FastBitClientConfig - Loading FastBit Client configuration...

Cause

Version of NTA installed on the Primary Polling Engine is not identical with the FSDB service installed on the Flow Storage Database Server.

 

This article applies NTA 4.2 and earlier. NTA 4.4 and later versions use a SQL Server database to store flow data. For more information, see Databases used by SolarWinds modules.

Environment

  • NTA 4.2 and earlier

Steps

  1. Identify the versions of both NTA modules installed on the Orion server and the Flow Storage Database
  2. Check the compatibility of the NTA modules with the Orion version
  3. Upgrade or downgrade the NTA Flow Storage Database
