Orion NTA 3.8 does not install on Windows Server 2003

Issue:

NTA 3.8 installer does not load on Windows Server 2003. During attempted installation, a MaintDateCheck.exe error occurs. 

The installation issue is caused by storing the MaintDateCheck.exe file to a directory whose path contains at least one space. For example, the MaintDateCheck.exe file may be residing in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Logs\NTA\Installer\MSIs\.

Solution:

To resolve this issue:

  • Upgrade to NTA 3.9.

    or 
     
  • Complete the following procedure:
     
    1. Check your system to see if the full file path is the same name as part of the subdirectory, which contains space. Possible examples could look like these:
      C:\Documents.txt
      C:\Documents and.exe
      C:\Documents and Settings\All
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
    2. If the issue does exist, delete or rename the subdirectory. You can also move the subdirectory to another location.

      Note:  File extensions, such as .exe and .txt, do not matter.
