Netflow Service does not start

Issue

Netflow Service unable to start with the following error message from the FSDB service:
ERROR SolarWinds.Netflow.FastBit.Server.Service.Program - NetFlowService will be abnormally terminated - UnhandledException was caught : System.Exception: Mapping Item Parsing error [ 79

Cause

A problem with reading -partTN_map file, which is placed in the DB directory.

Resolution

  1. Remote the desktop to the server where FSDB is installed.
  2. Locate to the following path - C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\NTA\FlowStorage\Data
  3. Backup the following files to your desktop:
    • -partTN_map
    • -partTN_map.bak
  4. Go to Service Manager and stop the SolarWinds Netflow Storage Service.
  5. Delete the two files (-partTN_map and -partTN_map.bak) located in the data folder.
  6. Restart the SolarWinds Netflow Storage Service.

          The two files (-partTN_map and -partTN_map.bak) will be re-created again.
