NetFlow Receiver Service flow processing is suspended due to licensing issues. License status check failed: no valid license were found for OSS

Overview

You may find that the Netflow service is unable to start and immediately stops when trying to start the service again via the Orion Service Manager.

 

When checking the Windows Event Viewer, you can find the following message types:

X/X/XXXX X:XX AM/PM Event Type NetFlow Receiver Service flow processing is suspended due to licensing issues.
X/X/XXXX X:XX AM/PM Event Type License status check failed: no valid license were found for OSS.
X/X/XXXX X:XX AM/PM Event Type NetFlow Receiver Service [OSS] Stopped

Environment

  • NTA, all versions

 

Cause 

This is caused by a corrupted license store on the NTA collector server (on either the Primary Polling Engine or an Additional Polling Engine).

 

Resolution

  1. Please start by resetting the NTA license and restarting all services using the Orion Service Manager using the instructions in the two articles below:
  2. Reset a license using License Manager
  3. Start and stop Orion services
  4. Please contact Solarwinds Technical Support if this does not resolve the issue.
