NTA upgrade error: SolarWinds.NetFlow.Licensor has stopped working

Updated March 23, 2017

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error when upgrading NTA:

SolarWinds.NetFlow.Licensor has stopped working

All NTA versions

The issue is caused by missing DLLs and config files from the \SolarWinds\Orion\NTA folder:

Example of files that were identified as missing:

  • SolarWinds.Licensing.Framework.dll
  • SolarWinds.Licensing.Framework.dll.config

This can be caused by running the upgrade as Domain Administrator rather than a Local Administrator.

  1. Create a Local Administrator account.
  2. Log in as a Local Administrator.
  3. Uninstall NTA then re-install NTA.
  4. Complete the Configuration Wizard.
