As Orion NTA collects NetFlow data the NetFlowService attempts to write IP addresses (for interfaces, endpoints, etc.) in the NetFlowAddressToResolve table. Based to your DNS setting, the NTA software resolves IP addresses and publishes that information as needed in modules on the Orion Web Console. After seeking resolution of an IP address, the NetFlowService writes the DNS answer to the FlowCorrelationPostDNS table.

If you are running Orion NTA with On Demand DNS, address resolution occurs only when an NTA module needs host or domain data. If you are running Orion NTA with Persistent DNS, address resolution occurs systematically as part of flow collection.
