NTA shows No Data in Top Wireless Applications

Updated June 6th, 2016

Overview

There is no data available in a Top Wireless Applications resource.

Environment

  • NTA 4.2 and later

Cause

There may be no data in the Top Wireless Applications resource for one of the following reasons:

  • The wireless controller hasn't been added to NTA NetFlow Sources,  Devices are added automatically to NetFlow Sources once NTA receives flows from them and the "Enable automatic addition of NetFlow sources" setting is enabled. If the setting is disabled, the devices must be added manually. In this case, you will receive an event notification to do so. NetFlow Sources are listed on a resource on the NTA Summary View.
  • Wireless devices are not Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC). NTA supports  WLC NetFlow only from Cisco WLC devices.
  • Cisco WLC devices are not properly configured to send NetFlow application data to your SolarWinds Orion host.
  • For other possible causes see Orion Web Console charts display Data is not available

Resolution

  1. Configure Cisco Wireless LAN Controller devices to export NetFlows. For complete details, see Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 7.4 (© 2017 Cisco, available at https://www.cisco.com, obtained on January 12, 2018.)
