WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

NTA events for unmanaged device

Updated August 2, 2016

This article provides brief information and a resolution to the issue when the following event appears for a device that is already managed, but by a different IP and the Netflow IP:

NetFlow Receiver Service [SERVERNAME] is receiving a NetFlow data stream from an unmanaged device (x.x.x.x). The NetFlow data stream from x.x.x.x will be discarded.

All NTA versions

Any of the following can resolve the issue:

Enable "Allow Matching nodes by another IP Address" in the NTA Settings page of the web console. -  This is the best solution. Note: There is an issue with NTA 4.2.1 where this option may not resolve the issue.

Change the Polling IP address in Orion that is managing the device to match the IP address the flow is coming from.

Example:  Netflow Export IP address

Change or enter the following command with the interface that contains the IP address NPM is managing the device by:

ip flow-export source interface with IP address
