Overview

This article addresses the issue where NetFlow packet processing is suspended and the following error is found in the FastBitServerService.log:

ERROR FastbitCLR.Disk.VolumeFs -

IsLoadedMetaInformation - Invalid format of meta information in file [D:\NTA Storage Database\Flows\TN#2016-02-19@0_0\ApplicationID. -meta], exception [Unable to read beyond the end of the stream.]

This article applies NTA 4.2 and earlier. NTA 4.4 and later versions use a SQL Server database to store flow data. For more information, see Databases used by SolarWinds modules.

Environment

NTA 4.2 and earlier

Cause

This occurs when the meta information for the partition is corrupted.

Resolution

  1. Connect to the NTA Flow Storage Database server via RDP.
  2. Verify that you have a backup of the NTA database. If not, back up the database.
  3. Stop the SolarWinds NetFlow Fastbit Server Service.
  4. Open the folder where the NTA Flow Storage DB resides.
  5. Place a copy of ...\Data\Flows\_metadata\ApplicationID.-meta in the partition folder that has the issu: ...\Data\Flows\TN#2016-02-19@0_0\ in this example.
  6. Start the SolarWinds NetFlow Fastbit Server Service.
