Overview

This article discusses the difference between installing the NTA Flow storage database on an additional polling engine and provisioning a dedicated server.

Environment

All environments with NTA 4.x or later

Detail

There are no technical limitations that prevent installing the NTA Flow Storage Database on an additional polling engine. However, SolarWinds highly recommends against doing so due to performance concerns both for the NTA FSDB and the polling engine itself. Any performance issues that may arise will require you to migrate the NTA Flow storage database off of the additional polling engine to a dedicated server per best practices.

Refer to the NTA Flow Storage Database Requirements.
