NTA Flow Storage database support in Amazon RDS

Updated October 3, 2018

Overview

You can deploy NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) 4.4 to Amazon Web Services (AWS) with RDS, but there are certain limitations. After enabling Multi-AZ, NTA displays the following error message:

Error while executing script - Unable to alter database: Memory optimized filegroups are not supported on Multi-AZ RDS Instances.

The transaction ended in the trigger. The batch has been aborted.

Environment

Detail

RDS-supported configurations

Deploying NTA 4.4 and later to Amazon AWS with RDS is supported. Yet, you may encounter issues, such as being unable to install NTA 4.4 on the Main Polling Engine or receiving multiple Configuration wizard errors. To prevent these issues, disable Multi-AZ on the NTA Flow Storage database SQL server.

The limitation applies to the NTA SQL Flow Storage database ONLY. The Orion database works well with Multi-AZ enabled. For more information, see Can the Orion database be hosted on Amazon RDS.

Multi-AZ configuration is not supported

Multi-AZ is not compatible with memory optimized tables (or file groups) in the NTA SQL Flow Storage database. While deploying NTA 4.4 and later to Amazon with RDS is supported, you need to disable Multi-AZ on the NTA SQL Flow Storage database.
