NTA Flow Storage is no longer able to connect to SQL. After doing  a UDL test on the SQL server and primary these pass test connection, but only the Flow Storage Database was failing. Using the credentials in SQL Management Studio we could get into the database with no issue and ruled this out. Turning off Virus protection also ruled that out as well.

Unexpected SQL Error
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm.)

NTA version 4.0 or later

IIS Crypto application that scans the registry and turns off depreciated protocols and ciphers. This application turned off Sha1 causing the issue.

  1. Make sure SHA1 is enabled on the server by checking certificate manager
  2. Validate no cipher or hashes have been disabled by Security Team using any type of third party application.
