WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

The BGP tab all chart does not display data in the NTA Web Console.

Environment

All NTA versions

Cause

The devices are not configured to send the Autonomous System numbers (ASN) in the flows.

Resolution

  1. Install Wireshark on the system.
  2. Start the Packet Capture Wizard.
  3. Select the interface you would like to capture traffic.
  4. Apply a capture filter to only see the net flow traffic.
    Sample filter for the default port which is 2055.
  5. Leave the trace to run for 15 minutes.
  6. You can apply the following display filters to check for the ASN:
    1. cflow.srcas != 0  (Filter for source address not equal to 0)
    2. cflow.dst != 0      (Filter for source address not equal to 0)
  7. If you have BGP configured, you will see the traffic displayed.
  8. Configure the device to send BGP in the flows. Please contact your device vendor for full procedures for your specific devices.
