Overview

The additional web server pages fail to load, after upgrading the Netflow Traffic Analyzer in the primary and the additional web servers.

Environment

NTA 4.0

Cause

The additional web server is looking for the flow storage database locally, instead it should pick the remote location of the flow storage database (FSDB).

Resolution

Manually edit the ClientConfig.xml on the additional web server using a text editor. Update the Hostname and communication port of the FSDB in the XML file.

  1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\NTA\FlowStorage\.
  2. Edit the ClientConfig.xml, search for the string net.pipe://localhost/orion/FlowStorageService and replace with net.tcp://HOSTNAME:17777/orion/FlowStorageService.
NoteHOSTNAME is the hostname of the machine where the flow storage database (FSDB) is located and 17777 is the communication port that is used by FSDB.
  3. Copy the file Solarwinds.Netflow.Utils.dll from the default installation folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Information Service\3.0\ to the destination folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\.
  4. Re-run the Configuration Wizard by selecting all the three options: Database, Website and Services - Running Configuration Wizard.
