Access error displays when you run the Configuration Wizard

Overview

When you run the Configuration Wizard, the following error displays: 

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\CloudMonitoring\
SolarWinds.CloudMonitoring.Strings.dll' is denied

Environment

  • All NTA versions

Cause 

The file is locked.

Resolution

  1. Reboot the server

  2. Log in as Local Administrator, not Domain Account with local admin rights

  3. Run the Configuration Wizard again

    When you install or update your SolarWinds products, SolarWinds recommends that you log in to your Orion Platform systems with the local Administrator account to avoid group policy objects (GPOs) and any other potential permission issues. You can also right click the application and and select Unblock, and then right click again and select Install as an Administrator. Do not use the Domain Admin account.
