Install NTA on an additional poller

Table of contents

Overview

Unlike other Orion applications, NTA does not have a unique installer for additional pollers. This article explains how to complete NTA installations on an additional poller.

Environment

  • NTA 3.11 and earlier
  • NTA 4.0.x installed on a 32 bit server
  • NTA 4.0 and higher installed on a 64 bit server
  • As of NTA 4.2.x, installation of the NTA Flow Storage Database on an Additional Polling Engine is no longer supported (please note that the NTA Flow Storage Database may still be installed on a dedicated server, just not on an Additional Polling Engine.)

Steps

  • For NTA 3.11 and earlier use the same installer that you used on the primary Orion server to install NTA on an additional poller. The installer will follow the role of the NPM installation on the server.
  • For NTA 4.0.x when installed on a 32-bit server, the behavior will be the same as above. This will introduce bug fixes but you will not be able to take advantage of the new features of the release. NTA 4.1 and higher no longer support installing on a 32-bit server.
  • For NTA 4.0 and higher when installed on a 64-bit server, the installer is universal and will ask during installation what role to install.

NTA.gifNote: After selecting the role you wish to install, you will need the SQL username and password Orion uses to manage its database.
