How do I upgrade from NTA on 32bit operating system to NTA 4.x on 64bit OS

Updated January 12, 2017

Overview

How do I upgrade from NTA on 32bit operating system to NTA 4.x on 64bit OS?

Environment

  • NTA 4.x

Detail

You need to migrate your Orion to a new server running a 64bit operating system.
If you have been using a separate Orion SQL database server, the SQL database holds most of your resource and view configurations, nodes data, alert definitions, and historical data. NTA Flow Storage Database will automatically migrate your historical data from the SQL database, and you will just reconnect to your existing SQL server during the new Orion setup.

However, reports are defined using configuraiton files and you must copy them to the new server. NTA on 64bit operating systems use the new web-based reporting, and there is no automated way to migrate your custom reports. You must re-create them manually in the web-based reporting UI. For an example of re-creating a customized Report Writer report, see Creating Customized Report Writer Reports as Web-Based.
