Export to XLS fails while using HTTPS in NTA

Issue:

'Export to XLS' fails with the following error message:

Unexpected Website Error. The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.

 

Cause:

A self-signed certificate fails the validation test as they are not from a trusted source (e.g. verisign, etc.) .

 

Workaround:

Use of fully qualified domain names (FQDN) in the website URL helps self-signed certificate to pass validation test:

  1. Add the Orion domain and IP mapping into the hosts file, which is located in  c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
  2. Add the following row in the same format:
    XXX.XX.XX.XX     orion.mydomain.com 
    where IP address is the IP address of the Orion server and domain name is the Orion public domain name, which is used by customer. 
  3. Sometimes you may not able to ping directly the IP address which is assigned to your server and only 127.0.0.1 works, therefore it is needed to place the following row into host file:
    127.0.0.1    orion.mydomain.com
