Decrease in flow data amounts displayed in charts after upgrading Juniper MX80

Updated October 19, 2017

Overview

You may notice a decrease in the amount of data (bytes/packets) reported by a Juniper MX80 device after upgrading the IOS.

This occurs despite the proper configuration of the device using the instructions below:

https://support.solarwinds.com/Success_Center/Netflow_Traffic_Analyzer_(NTA)/NTA_Administrator_Guide/0B0_Device_configuration_examples/012_sFlow_and_J-Flow_device_examples/Juniper_Networks_sFlow_and_J-Flow_configurations/Juniper_sFlow_Configuration

Environment

  • All NTA versions

Cause

This is caused by a bug in the latest version of IOS for the Juniper MX80 (and possibly other models).

Resolution

Please reach out to Juniper to track and see if a hotfix or upgrade has been released yet.
