Use TLS communication in the Reports Console

Overview

This article details how to configure your LEM and Reports Console to use TLS communication.

Steps

  1. Enable TLS on the LEM virtual appliance:
    1. Connect to the CMC console using SSH/Putty or your hypervisor's virtual console. See Use an SSH client to connect to your LEM Appliance.
    2. Go to manager and run the enabletls command. If it offers you four choices and you do not intend to sign and import your own certificate, choose option 3 to keep the existing certificate.
  2. Export your certificate from the Web Console:
    1. Open your LEM Web Console in a browser.
    2. In your address bar, a certificate error or warning appears. Click View certificate.
    3. In the Certificate dialog box, go to the Details tab and click Copy to file.
    4. Save the certificate locally.
  3. Import the certificate into the Reports Console and enable TLS:
    1. Open your Reports Console and go to Configure > Managers - Credentials and Certificates.
    2. Select the Use TLS connection? checkbox.
    3. Go to the Certificates tab and click Import Certificate.
    4. Open the certificate file you exported. Click Close and save the changes.
    5. Close and re-open the Reports Console.
    6. Run any report to test the connection.
