Unable to connect to the virtual machine. Try to connect again

Overview

The following error is displayed when you access the LEM CMC Console via the Hyper-V manager MMC snap-in:

Cannot connect to the virtual machine. Try to connect again.

Environment

  • All LEM versions
  • Hyper-V with 2008 R2

Cause 

This issue is caused by a function failure for vmconnect.exe when used as a command line.

Resolution

This is a known issue with Hyper-v running on Server 2008 R2.
