This article describes how to deploy a brand new virtual appliance to replace an existing LEM installation.

All LEM versions

Note: Before performing the following steps, create a back up of any filters, rules, or groups you will need on the new appliance. These may be exported individually by clicking the gear icon on each of their pages in the Web Console. To export all of your settings, run a back up job. See Import Settings from a SIM or LEM Manager Backup to Another Manager.

After you have the appropriate backups, follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest deployment package Hyper-V or VMware from the Customer Portal.
  2. Either power down your old LEM or change its hostname and IP address so the new one can take its place. See Configuring a static IP address and
  3. Deploy your new LEM virtual appliance. See Installing LEM.
  4. Import your old LEM settings. See Import Settings from a SIM or LEM Manager Backup to Another Manager.
  5. Contact SolarWinds Customer Service to reset your license key. Afterwards, see Automatically applying a license key in the LEM Web Console on a computer with Internet access.
