MSSQL Auditor frequently crashes

Updated January 17, 2017

Overview

There may be instances where you notice that the MSSQL Auditor is crashing randomly and you get a message similar to below:

An unhandled exception ('System.NullReferenceException') occurred in MSSQLAuditor.exe [6072].

Environment

  • All LEM versions
  • MSSQL Server
  • MSSQL Auditor
  • SQL Profiler

Cause

Likely reasons are:

  • MSSQL Server is taking up all the memory allocated to the machine.
  • There is not enough memory for SQL and the Operating System.

Resolution

Take necessary steps to either increase your RAM or limit how much RAM MSSQL server is allowed to use.
