Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve when two nodes appear after installation of Linux agent.

Environment

  • All Linux agents

Issue

After Installing a Linux agent (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), two nodes appear under Manage > Nodes. One appears as the normal agent, but the other appears as a Syslog device.

Steps

1. Add entry to /etc/hosts.

10.110.6.71 centOS

2. Change the hostname(command as root).

hostname centOS

3. Edit the following network file:

nano -w /etc/sysconfig/network
hostname=centOS

4. Stop the Agent as a root user.

/etc/init.d/swlem-agent stop

5. Remove the contego directory.

rm -rf /usr/local/contego

6. Restart the Network.

service network restart

7. Re-Install the Linux Agent.

./setup.bin

Once the agent is re-installed, you should only see one node.

Note:  If a customer does not want to resolve his environmental issue with the steps provided,  this switch should work if added to the end of the spop.conf file in the following ContegoSPOP folder:

ForcedLocalAddress=<preferred IP address>
