LEM License Activation

Overview

This article provides steps on how to activate your LEM license with the online and the offline method.

Steps

ONLINE:  

  1. Open the customer portal at <https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/> and log in with your SolarWinds user ID or Individual User account and password.
  2. Under the License Management section on the top bar click License Management.  Scroll down the page and click the + icon next to the product that you want to download, activate, or upgrade.  
    Here you will find the activation key.  Please copy this key.
  3. Open the LEM console and choose Manage > Appliance > License > Update License (down the bottom left corner) > enter activation key.
  4. Restart the installation to update your server.

OFFLINE:

  1. Open the customer portal at <https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/> and log in with your SolarWinds user ID or Individual User account and password.
  2. Under the License Management section on the top bar click License Management.  Scroll down the page and click the + icon next to the product that you want to download, activate, or upgrade.  
    Here you will find the activation key. Underneath the activation key, click Activate License Manually.
  3. Complete the form. To generate the Unique Machine ID, please do the following:
    1.     In the LEM console, choose MANAGE > Appliances.
    2.     In the bottom-right box, select the License tab.
    3.     In the License Activation box, select Manual from the drop-down menu.
          Note: If this is grayed out, click Update License in the bottom-right corner.
    4.    Copy the Unique Machine ID provided.
  4. Generate the license file and save it to a shared location that the machine can access. 
    Upload the license file.
  5. Restart the installation to update your server.
