This article explains the Output setting in the connector configuration windows and the the three options.
All LEM versions
The Output setting configures a connector with the LEM database you want events stored in:
The Alert database is the default LEM database which contains all normalized events.
The nDepth Raw Log Storage database (also known as the Raw database) is an optional, secondary database which can be enabled to store events in their original format (not normalized). The nDepth database is not enabled by default as it may have a performance impact while not being required in all scenarios. To learn more about enabling the nDepth database, see Configure LEM to save raw log messages for nDepth search.
Only when the nDepth Raw Log Storage database is enabled and the raw events for a particular connector is to be stored in that nDepth Raw Log Storage database, should the Output setting be set to nDepth or both.
In other cases the default setting of Alert is appropriate.
