Changing the CMC password

Overview

This article details how to change the password needed to log in to the LEM CMC command-line interface. 

 

Environment

All LEM versions

Steps

Prerequisite: You must know your current CMC password. If you no longer have the CMC password needed to log in to the CMC interface, contact SolarWinds Support for help resetting the password. 

  1. Log in to the cmc command-line interface using either a hypervisor console or an SSH client via port 22 or 32022 (if LEM is 6.2.1 or earlier, only port 32022 is open).
  2. Type appliance, and then press Enter.
  3. Type password, and then press Enter.
  4. Complete the wizard to change the password.
  5. To return to the root CMC command line, type exit, and then press Enter.
  6. To log out and close the CMC interface, type exit, and then press Enter again.

    Test the new CMC password by logging back in to the CMC interface.
