Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when the Disable Networking action is not disabling the connection for the machine that the rule is written for.

The issue occurs when setting a rule that when triggered, disables networking on the computer that triggered the rule.

Environment

LEM version 6.2

Resolution

This is currently a known issue, the disable network action will not work on 64-bit machines.

  1. Confirm that the Windows Active Response is enabled, and that the rule is triggered.

Check http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/lem/docs/html/content/KB%20Articles%20-%20updated/lem-disable-networking-active-response.htm

  1. Confirm the following:
  • That the Windows Active Response Connector is turned on for the computer.
  • Add a pop up message in the Actions section of your rule.
  • Confirm that the message is then received on the computer when a test is run and the rule is triggered.
  • Check if the networking is disabled or not disabled on the computer.

If the issue still occurs after the checks above:

  • Collect print screens of the rule you have created, showing the pop up message on the test computer, and print screen of the Windows Active Response Connector is enabled.
  • Collect Debug logs from the LEM and contact Solarwinds Technical Support.
