Unable to Run Perl Script

Updated May 4th, 2016

Overview

Sometimes it is not possible to install ActivePerl versions that are lower than ActivePerl 5.18 and this causes Perl script in Kiwi Syslog to not run.

Environment

Kiwi version 9.x

Cause

  • Perl script is working fine with Kiwi (except when using ActivePerl 5.18 or above versions).
  • Kiwi Syslog can only detect x86 perl script engine only.

Resolution

  1. Instead of using Action = Run Script with script language = PerlScript, use the option Action = Run an external program.
  2. Specify the Perl binary as the executable with the script file as a command line option.

This will allow you to run the Perl version of your choice.
