WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Log to database fails

Updated March 14, 2017

Overview

DBLogger.ClearQueue aborted with error: Database error executing SQL statement: Unclosed quotation mark after the character string.

Environment

All Kiwi Syslog Server versions

Cause

The SQL statement is failing because there is a NULL character at the end of the message. The NULL is causing the insert statement to chop off so there is no closing quote.

Resolution

  1. From Kiwi Syslog Manager, Click File > Setup > Modifiers.

  2. Enable the following:

    • Replace non printable character with <ASCII value>

    • Remove CR/LF from end of messages

  3. Restart the service and see if the issue still occurs.

Note: you might need to purge database cache from File > Purge and make sure that \Syslogd\DBCache\ is empty.
