Kiwi Syslog Server as a filter syslog/trap layer for NPM and NCM

Table of contents

Updated March 11th, 2016

Overview

This article provides information about making Kiwi Syslog Servers as a filter to for NPM and NCM.

Environment

  • All versions of Kiwi Syslog Server
  • All versions of NPM
  • All versions  of NCM
  • All version of Windows

Detail

The syslog viewer within NPM uses integration with NCM when it comes to realtime change detection. However, KSS provides a more robust result.

You can add Kiwi Syslog Server as your primary collector and forwarder of events and messages to the Orion's syslog viewer.

To maintain the integration with NCM, add a new syslog server to the network with KSS and have a device logging to this IP. Create a message text filter to look for Configured from console by Admin on vty0 to forward events/messages to the Orion's syslog viewer.
