IP addresses truncated or appearing as 127.0.0.1 for Kiwi Syslog Server

Overview

When reviewing syslog messages logged by Kiwi Syslog Server, the host name contains either a truncated IP address or the local loopback IP address of 127.0.0.1.

 

Environment

  • All supported versions of Kiwi Syslog Server.
  • Any version of Windows operating systems.

 

Cause 

This is a known issue with the file C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSWINSCK.ocx 

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Stop the Kiwi Syslog Server service.
  2. Close the Kiwi Syslog Server Manager.
  3. Copy MSWINSCK.ocx  from the Kiwi Syslog Server installation directory (default C:\Program Files (x86)\syslogd\) to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
  4. Open the Kiwi Syslog Server Manager.
  5. Go to Manage > Start the Syslogd service.
