Overview

This article provides steps on how to log a message to a specified file in a selected format.

Environment

  • Kiwi Syslog version 9.x ++
  • Server: Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2008, 2008 R2, 2003, 2003 R2
  • Workstation: Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP

Steps

  1. On Kiwi Syslog Daemon, create a "log to file" action for each group and configure a simple filter and apply it to the host address for this action.
  2. Add the list of IP addresses to the simple filter include text.
  3. Each address must be contained in quotes and separated by a space.

Notes:

  • Fill in the Log file name field with the absolute path and filename to use for the log file, or use the […] button to browse for a file.
  • The default log file name is "SyslogCatchAll.txt"
  • The default path is "InstallPath\Logs\" where InstallPath is the folder that Kiwi Syslog Server is installed in.
