Overview

This article provides steps to resolve the issue when the Kiwi Syslog Server failed to update files because they are locked.

The files are usually the following:

  • Syslogd_Service.exe
  • Syslogd_TaskEngine.exe
  • Syslogd_Manager.exe

Environment

  • All Kiwi Syslog Server versions
  • All Windows versions

Cause

The issue is caused by Kiwi Syslog Server being too busy processing messages in the queue or performing scheduled actions.

Resolution

  1. Open Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Details or Processes tab, depending on the version of Windows.
  3. Click the option to Show processes for all users.
  4. Sort the processes by Image Name.
  5. End task on all processes that start with syslogd_.
  6. Click Retry on the installation's dialogue and proceed with the installation.
