System requirements for Kiwi Syslog Server

Before you install Kiwi Syslog Server, verify that the server meets the following hardware and software requirements and that the required ports are open.

.NET Framework

.NET Framework 4.0

Kiwi Syslog Server downloads and installs .NET Framework if it is missing. You can save time during the Kiwi Syslog Server installation by installing it beforehand.

On 64-bit System, Kiwi Syslog Server runs in WOW64 (Windows-on-Windows 64-bit) mode. WOW64 is a subsystem of the Windows operating system that is capable of running 32-bit applications and is included on all 64-bit versions of Windows.

Port requirements

Kiwi Syslog Server uses the following ports.

514 (default), plus one Ephemeral port UDP Incoming UDP messages
1468 (default) TCP Incoming TCP messages

162 (default) for IPv4

163 (default) for IPv6


Incoming SNMP traps

6514 (default) TCP Incoming secure TCP messages
3300, plus one Ephemeral port TCP Internal communication between the Syslog service and Syslog Manager
8088 (default) TCP Kiwi Syslog Web Access

Versions of Kiwi Syslog Server prior to 9.2.1 were installed with the Ultidev Cassini Web Server Explorer, which used an additional port TCP Cassini Web Server Explorer (and this port) are no longer used.
