Issue: Kiwi Syslog Daemon fails to receive or display messages.

Information: If you have configured your network devices and Kiwi Syslog Daemon is not receiving or displaying messages then you should confirm whether or not the messages are actually arriving and getting into your system.

Resolution: To confirm this, we recommend that you use a packet capture tool such as Ethereal or Wireshark. You can check out their website to download this software.

You can use Ethereal to filter for and display any syslog information that is sent to your system.

For help setting up Ethereal, see the linked related artice.

Note: If you have confirmed that syslog messages are arriving on your system but you are still not receiving or getting any information in Kiwi Syslog Daemon, then you can try other resolutions found in the related articles.
