Unable to write to shared drive

This article details a resolution to the issue in which you are unable to write to a mapped shared drive in Kiwi CatTools.

By default, the service version is logged in using a LocalSystem account. This account is different from the user account you are using to run CatTools on your machine. A LocalSystem account does not know about any mapped drives that are defined and are accessible by your user account.


You can resolve this using one of two options:

  1. Provide CatTools Service a domain account that has access to share and directory being shared. From Windows services.msc, right click on CatTools Service > Properties > Log On.
  2. Provide CatTools a UNC path to share, such as \\server\sharename\dir\, not a mapped drive, such as x:\dir. Services do not see mapped drives.
