Overview

This article describes how to test DNS Zone Transfer via a command prompt.

Environment

  • All IPAM versions

Steps

  1. Open an Admin CMD prompt on the IPAM server.
  2. Run the following commands:
    1. nslookup
    2. server <DNS Server Name OR ip address of DNS server>
    3. set type=any
    4. ls -d <DNS Zone Name> > dnstest.txt
    5. exit
  3. This file will contain a list of the DNS records for this zone.
  4. If this works without error you will have to investigate why zone transfers are not working in IPAM.
