Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error:

SNMPD_AUTH_FAILURE: nsa_log_community: unauthorized SNMP community

The error appears in the logs of the devices Orion is monitoring as nodes with the Orion IP/Hostname as the sending agent.

Environment

All Orion Core products with IPAM

Cause

The error occurs when unexpected unexpected devices are detected by IPAM scans.

Resolution

Check the following:

  • Review IPAM SNMP credentials and provide the correct one in the top order. This could be done through the following     page:

Orion/IPAM/admin/admin.snmpcred.list.aspx

  • Disable scan for the mentioned IPs. This can be done editing the IP through:

a. Go to Orion/IPAM/subnets.aspx. This page lists all subnets on the left side.

b. Select subnet 96.8.176.64.

c. Select the IP, and click Edit.

d. Select Off as the value for scanning the Edit IP Address

e. Click Save.

  • Also you have the choice to ignore as errors are caused by the IPAM subnet scan functionality.
