The following are the minimum requirements needed to monitor BIND DNS using IPAM 4.0 or later.

Note: Although IPAM supports BIND version 8 and  later, Solarwinds recommends that you use BIND 9.1 as it supports commands for checking configuration syntax. IPAM uses BIND 9.1 for configuration change validation during management operations.

Required Permissions:

  • User account needs to be configured to allow remote telnet or SSH access to BIND machine.
  • Read and write access rights for all BIND configuration files.

   /etc/named.conf, and all included files

All zone data files:

  • Read and write access to system temp directory /tmp.
