Overview

By design, when subnets are added through the spreadsheet import, the subnet information will be created but the IP range of the subnet is not applied.

This articles shows you how to get around this and add the IP addresses manually.

Environment

IPAM 2 and later

Steps

Manually add the IP range

  1. Go to Manage Subnets & IP Addresses.
  2. Find and click the empty subnet.
  3. Click Add IP Range.
  4. Enter the Starting and Ending IP Address.
  5. Click Save.

Import the IP addresses through the spreadsheet

  1. You can create another spreadsheet and list all the IP addresses and relevant information, then import this over the existing subnets.
  2. Create a new spreadsheet and add all the Ip addresses and required information.
  3. Go to Manage Subnets & IP Addresses.
  4. Find and lick the empty subnet.
  5. Click Import > Import IP Address file.
  6. Proceed through the import spreadsheet wizard.
  7. Add the IP address spreadsheet that was created.
  8. Make sure that the section for "This file includes:" is set to the IP Addresses and is restricted to the subnet(s) that you require.

Import large quantities of IPs into multiple subnets

If you have empty subnets and/or the above methods are not possible, you can run the AddIp tool on IPAM. Please note that this must be run from the primary poller and any issues are not supported by SolarWinds.
