Import IP addresses from an excel spreadsheet

Manually import IP4 and IP6 groups, supernets, and IPV6 global prefixes, including subnet tree hierarchy, from a spreadsheet and determine where the IP address information is imported.

Imported data maintains user delegation permissions.

Before you import your spreadsheet, know the following:

  • The import may overwrite existing subnets of the same address spaces.
  • Only a .csv, .xls, or .xlsx file can be imported.
  • If your .xls or .xlsx files has multiple worksheets, the header rows must be identical for each worksheet.

This example imports an .xls file to the EAST0100: NOC node.

  1. Click My Dashboards > Manage Subnets & IP Addresses.
  2. Select a subnet.
  3. Click Import > Import Spreadsheet.


  4. On the Preparing to import a spreadsheet page, click Next.

    To prevent import errors, SolarWinds strongly recommends that you download the example spreadsheet for adding IP Addresses and ensure your file columns match the example columns.

  5. Click Browse to select a file, and click Next.


  6. On the IP Address column matching page, click Next.

    IPAM detects the columns in your spreadsheet and automatically populates the fields. This example only imports IP addresses.


  7. On the Subnet Column matching page, select optional Subnet columns to import and select an option that tells IPAM how to handle the imported content. This example selects IPAM will automatically create subnet hierarchy based on information provided.


  8. Click Next.
  9. Confirm your selections for import, and click Import.


  10. Review the Import Summary and click Done.
