Updated 2/12/2013

Congratulations on your purchase of SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM). IPAM leverages an intuitive point-and-click interface to allow you to easily investigate IP address space issues and manage your DHCP and DNS servers. By periodically scanning the network for IP address changes, Orion IPAM maintains a dynamic list of IP addresses and allows engineers to plan for network growth, ensure IP space usage meets corporate standards, and reduce IP conflicts.

These release notes provide additional guidance for IPAM v3.1.1.

New Features and Improvements

IPAM 3.1.1 includes the following new features and improvements:

  • User Device Tracker (UDT) Integration
Adds UDT columns into the IP Address Management Tab that displays UDT ports, currently connected users(s), and connected switch IDs (IP or link to node)
  • Support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8
  • Support DHCP and DNS services running on Windows 2012
  • UI improvements
Users can see related subnets, IP address exclusion, or split scopes for each DHCP scope

Notes Note: If you install IPAM and NPM on the same server, NPM will need to be on version 10.4 or higher and any additional pollers and websites must also be upgraded accordingly.

End-of-Life announcement (EOL) - Customers on Solarwinds IPAM v 2.0 and older should begin transitioning to SolarWinds IPAM 3.1.1

Warning Warnings:

As with all modifications to your production environment, it is suggested that you complete the following tasks before implementing any changes:

  • SolarWinds does not recommend managing more than 3 million addresses per installation.
  • Ensure you first create a backup of your database.
  • Test the change in a lab environment that mimics your production environment. If you need a temporary license to install an instance of the software in a lab, please download an evaluation copy of the latest software from our website. Evaluation copies come with a fully functional 30-day license.
