  • When trying to implement BIND DNS Mgmt and add an AIX 6.1 Bind9 based DNS Server.
  • Configured SSH for root access. While testing the connection, the application returns the error bind is not running. 


IPAM v4 and later


Issuing the following commands to the DNS server:

  • named -V
  • ps -A -o comm,pid,args | grep ^named

The parsing of the value returned "named9" which is what causes the application to be not enabled. The parse is looking for "named" only, so when it sees the named9 doesn't exactly match this, it processes the value as a no match.

Also unable to verify the verification code of the configuration file: '/etc/named.conf' 


Manual configuration of the config file by renaming the file from 'named9' to 'named' helps to alleviate this issue. 

Workaround to verify the verification code:
# ln /usr/bin/csum /usr/bin/sha1sum
