Overview

Firewalls with the same host name but different IP addresses cannot be added to FSM.

All FSM versions

Cause

This is a known limitation in FSM. The host name of a firewall has to be unique.

In the following example, FSM tags 'Extranet' as the host name and treats the new firewall as a duplicate:

Existing Firewall name = ABC\Extranet
New Firewall name = CDE\Extranet

Resolution

Perform the following workaround:

  1. Change the host name on the firewall that needs to be added.
  2. Log in to FSM and go to File > Add Firewall.
  3. Import the device within FSM.
  4. Run the desired operation like Audit and PCI reports.
