Webinar: Web Help Desk for HR, Facilities and Accounting Departments
This webinar will focus on use cases for HR, Facilities and Accounting.

Having a unified ticketing and asset management system for all the departments in your company can provide end-users with a seamless experience and make things easier for your IT team. Yet, with different business tasks and objectives, many departments don’t fully understand the capabilities of Web Help Desk and how the software can be customized for effective use in their departments.

Overview

This article discusses errors related to the Import Rule Documentation feature.

Environment

All FSM versions

Detail

The Track Rules > Import Rule Documentation feature generates a response window that contains the number of successes, errors and warnings. When errors are reported the errors are logged to C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SolarWinds FSMServer\logs

Example 1:

2016-02-08 09:21:49,454 [RuleDocumentationManager] ERROR [ModalContext] - The Rule documentation entry with firewall name <hostname> and FSM Rule ID <####> is not valid and will be ignored as the corresponding rule is not present in the system.

Comparing the Rule ID in the error to the rule documentation spreadsheet, the spreadsheet will correlate the update with a line in the configuration.  This error typically relates to the documentation applied to a line that is invalid (such as a line with a closing bracket instead of the actual rule data).

Example 2:

The date is displayed as <null> in the rule documentation when <> is the expected result.

This occurs when using an SSH import that causes the dates to appear blank in rule documentation under Firewall Inventory.
