Overview

This article provides steps to increase the Java Heap size for the FSM Server components.

Environment

All FSM versions

Steps

Note: Before making changes to the heap file, consider the FSM FAQ:

https://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/51529

To add more memory to FSM via ini file:

  1. Find file SolarWindsFSM.ini inside FSM installation folder (C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SolarWinds FSMServer
  2. Before modifying the file back it up by copying it elsewhere to create a known good copy to revert to if there are any issues.
  3. Increase Xmx and Xms values.
    1. The flag Xmx specifies the maximum memory allocation pool for a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), while Xms specifies the initial memory allocation pool.

Example:
-Xmx4G will set it to 4G of max memory
-Xmx4096M will also set it to 4G
